General Dermatologic Surgery

 

 

General dermatologic surgery is used to treat basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of cancer in the U.S. Squamous cell carcinoma, in most cases, can be cured by the following treatments: electrodesiccation and curettage; excision; Mohs micrographic surgery, radiation; and topical prescription medications. Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common form of skin cancer after basal cell carcinoma.
